Massachusetts – New Balance has just released plans for a new world headquarters campus in Brighton, along the Massachusetts Turnpike. The 14 acre site will include at least 4 news buildings designed by local firm Elkus Manfredi Architects, housing program for office space, restaurants, retail, a hotel and a sports complex.
The office building, no higher than 130 feet, will incorporate work space, restaurants and retail, while the hotel will accommodate about 175 rooms, totaling 140,000 square feet. The hotel structure will be no taller than 205 feet. The most dynamic portion of the proposal is the sports complex which could be home to facilities for basketball, tennis, ice hockey, track and field, and fitness training. This building could also be home to more commercial spaces as the design process continues.
This $235 million project will bring an enormous economic benefit to the Allston/Brighton area. New Balance has pledged to contribute funding to creating an Everett Street stop on the MBTA commuter rail line, if the project moves forward.
